Born and raised in Colorado, Annamarie got her start singing at church and school. Her childhood home was filled with music, both from her musical family members and her mom’s classical CD collection. She studied voice from a young age, and her wonderful teacher encouraged her to sing musical theater, folk tunes, jazz standards, and eventually a bit of opera.

She studied voice at the Eastman School of Music. Here she was exposed to the wide world of classical music, from early styles to current composers. She sang her first operatic roles and learned her music theory and history. Highlights include singing Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 with the orchestra, and performing the Beggar Woman in Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd.

Annamarie completed her Master’s Degree at Rice University. She performed the role of Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni under the baton of Richard Bado. She also began her association with St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, beginning her tenure as a staff singer. Upon graduating, she joined the faculty of Prairie View A & M University, where she taught voice and diction classes for 7 years.

She is an active teacher and performer in Houston and beyond, performing in operas and oratorios. Favorite roles include Lucia, Violetta, Mimi, and Pamina.
